These rules are intended as a means of ensuring that Wachusett Fitness is a safe and comfortable venue for all clients, guests, and staff. Disregard for any rule or failure to cooperate with staff will result in expulsion from the facility and loss of client privileges. When in doubt, please use common sense.
General Rules
Please pick up after yourself, whether in the locker room or on the fitness floor.
Appropriate exercise clothing is required. Street clothes are not permitted on the fitness floor or in the private studio. Modesty is encouraged. Athletic footwear which covers the entire foot is required. During the winter, slushy shoes and boots must be removed in at the reception area and replaced with athletic footwear.
Children under the age of 16 are not permitted on the fitness floor. Children of our clients may use the facility after four full personal training sessions and approval by the trainer. See our Policy on Children for more information.
Cardiovascular equipment must be wiped down following use. Sign-in for use of cardiovascular equipment and 30-minute limit may be required from time to time.
Equipment must be used in the manner intended. Do not attach weight plates to the weight stacks on the machines, or otherwise use the equipment unsafely. The fitness staff has the right to suggest correct form if a client's safety is at risk while performing any exercise. All emergencies or injuries must be reported to the staff on duty.
Clients are responsible for returning all weight plates, dumbbells, barbells, and other equipment to the proper storage places.
Food is permitted in the juice bar area only. Drinks are permitted but must be covered.
Loud, profane, or abusive language is prohibited. Do not drop weights or bars.
Use of cell phones is not permitted on the fitness floor or in the locker rooms. If you are contacted in the event of an emergency, please move to the front desk area for your phone conversation.
We will not tolerate sexual harassment of clients or employees. If a client, staff member, or guest has a complaint, we will listen to it and follow the most effective course of action to stop the offensive behavior. Understand that if you see your action as friendly flirting or welcome behavior and the person to whom you are directing it does not, we will consider this sexual harassment and your membership will be terminated.
Lockers are free for day use, and $10 per month for rental. Locks left overnight will be removed and the contents of the lockers discarded.
Magazines and newspapers are available for clients' convenience and should not be removed from the facility. Please return them to the magazine rack when you're through.
All activities cease at closing time. All patrons must clear the facility promptly.
Personal items left in the locker rooms will be discarded. Personal stereos, clothing, and other such items left in the facility will be kept in a lost-and-found area for up to 30 days. Items not claimed may be discarded after that time.
Please refrain from use of perfumes or colognes while using the facility.
ALL guests and clients are required to check in at the reception desk during EACH visit. All clients must present their own valid key card to use the facility.
We welcome your input and encourage you to voice your concerns. Any formal problems, questions, or concerns regarding Wachusett Fitness policy or activities should be submitted in writing. Please clearly indicate the issue being addressed, and be sure to include your name. All signed letters will be carefully reviewed, and anonymous complaints may be considered.
Referral Rewards Program
Clients and employees of Wachusett Fitness are eligible to participate in our Referral Rewards Program.
The referrer completes a referral card providing contact information for the potential client. Wachusett Fitness contacts the potential client, determines eligibility, and may set up a complimentary 14-day trial membership. If the referred client purchases a 12-month membership at the end of the trial period, the referrer receives the specified reward.
Holidays
Wachusett Fitness is closed on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, and may close early on the eve of certain holidays.
Inclement Weather
The purpose of this policy is to ensure the safety of our clients, instructors, trainers and staff. If there is a question as to road conditions, we strongly encourage you to call to make sure we are open.
In the event of a statewide state of emergency due to weather, or if state officials encourage business closures, Wachusett Fitness may be closed. If Wachusett Regional School District announces a delay or school closure, Wachusett Fitness may open late, at the discretion of management. Again, we encourage you to call to make sure we are open.
If the facility is closed due to inclement weather, group and personal training participants will not be charged for pre-registered programs.
Children
Wachusett Fitness is designed to appeal to adults. The equipment used in the facility is designed for use by adults, and is dangerous for children. We are not licensed or insured for child care, and we cannot be responsible for your child under any circumstances.
Children aged 16 to 18 whose parent or guardian is a Wachusett Fitness client are permitted to enroll as clients, subject to the following requirements:
All children must complete four sessions with a personal trainer before being permitted to work out on their own. These sessions may be purchased separately, or included in the membership package. Management will seek the opinion of the trainer as to whether the child has sufficient understanding of exercise equipment and principles to work out independently.
Contracts and other related paperwork must be co-signed by a parent or guardian.
Personal Training or Group Training
Personal services contracts are between the buyer and Wachusett Fitness, not a specific trainer. Services may be provided from time to time by an alternate trainer.
Trainers are prohibited from accepting payment from clients directly and from providing services to clients outside of the confines of Wachusett Fitness. Violation of this clause may result in cancellation of membership, and termination of employment for the trainer.
Twenty-four-hour notice of cancellation of a scheduled personal training appointment is required. The client will be charged for one full session in the event that the requirement is not met.
All prepaid multi-week group training programs are based on a pre-determined schedule unless otherwise noted. Sessions are charged to the client regardless of attendance.
Staff are allowed to participate in all group training programs at member rates.
Studio Cycling
The purpose of this policy is to ensure that our clients continue to participate in a successful program, payment for services is made in a timely manner, and that the studio and bikes are not damaged.
All sessions are first come, first served. Pre-registration is allowed and recommended to ensure participation. Pre-registrations may be made at the front desk or by telephone. Voice-mail pre-registrations are allowed but are not guaranteed without confirmation from staff.
Participants may pre-register for consecutive weeks. Pre-registered sessions are limited to the participants' number of remaining Studio Pass sessions. Participants will be charged for all pre-registered sessions regardless of attendance. Instructors are compensated based on pre-registration and attendance.
If a pre-registered participant is not in the studio at the scheduled start time, his or her slot may be given to a waitlisted participant. Late arrivals are not permitted.
Studio schedule is subject to change without notice. Pre-registered charges will be credited for any canceled sessions.
Arrive a few minutes early so the session begins and ends on time.
Following use, clean your bike using an antibacterial wipe.
Please do not move bikes. Staff will set up and return bikes to the storage area.
Staff are allowed to participate in Studio Cycling at member rates.
Studio Use
The private studio is reserved for use by clients working individually or in small groups with trainers. When the studio is not reserved, it may be utilized by clients who wish to use a studio bike or work out on their own, under the following circumstances:
The user must have a current Studio Pass or personal training package.
The user must check in at the front desk before use.
The user may utilize the stereo equipment but must do so after being shown how to use it properly, and must keep the sound level low.
STOTT Pilates equipment may not be used without a trainer present.
